Project Summary:
Training for property owners was made more accessible and user-friendly, focusing on their unique needs and skill levels in Greece, Belgium and Cyprus.
Essential skills and information were highlighted, with associations like POMIDA showcasing them. For instance, the EU building sector's energy efficiency has gained more attention lately. Upgrading buildings brings numerous benefits: property owners enjoy lower energy bills, increased disposable income, and better indoor comfort. Businesses see improved productivity and competitiveness, while governments gain from more jobs, lower public spending, and enhanced energy security, especially in today's economy (Ryan & Campbell, 2012).
During our project we educated and empowered property owners in Greece, Belgium and Cyprus. Raising public awareness, changing behaviors, and educating were key in policies promoting energy efficiency and savings. These aimed to lower energy use through non-technical means, targeting individuals, communities, and organizations. The EduHome project informed owners about current laws.
The Erasmus+ project "EduHome" shared educational good practices for property owners in Greece, Cyprus, and Belgium. It offered a guide on various topics, including real estate development, dealing with difficult tenants, tax issues, and building regulations. The project analyzed and shared European directives on building stock policies with partners from these countries.
Our Belgian partner, the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI), and the European University Cyprus conducted a webinar on policies for energy efficiency in buildings. During the Learning Teaching Training Activity in Cyprus, we shared expertise and organized study visits. The training, attended by consortium members and European University of Cyprus students, focused on country-specific recommendations and included policy discussions with local stakeholders.
The "EduHome" project built upon existing experiences in countries like Greece. Training was provided for adults managing properties, with UIPI offering a European perspective.
A social media campaign educated on environmentally friendly practices, taxation, and new rental forms like Airbnb, aiming to reach a younger audience.
The project increased awareness of property owner policies in Europe and promoted real estate development. Results were shared through our webpage, Twitter, Linkedin and platforms like EPALE
